PINE CANYON
Pine Canyon, inside the boundaries of Castle Rock Regional Park, has seen a fair amount of bolting activity in the past few years. Locals have searched far and wide and have found a few new lines of the better-quality rock to climb. Routes are generally long, some two pitches, but the rock can be hit or miss, all too often crumbling in your hand as you sail toward that last bolt you clipped, or onto your belayer’s head. The majority of routes are south facing, and summer can be boiling midday, but of course, this is great news for the winter months, with many warm and climbable days. Climbers who frequent the areas at Pine Canyon have replaced many of the old, scary bolts and this has increased the foot traffic here.
